There are twenty-one current species of Sylesti in Sylestia, plus one indev species planned to be released for the MegaZone. Each species is recognizably different, and when wild-caught or generated, has different base stats depending on species.
The Aeridini is a Fabled species that appears once every year at the start of spring. Its arrival always marks the beginning of the Sylestian Spring Festival. Aeridinies spend much of their observed time pollinating Sylestia's many different types of flowers. Their diet consists almost exclusively of nectar, making them excellent candidates for pollinating. It is also thought that the Aeridini is a close relative of the Nephini due to their dragonkin ancestry and their similar physical features.
Aurleons are considered to be the most diverse species of Sylestia. They are typically only seen in temperate regions that are plentiful in trees. Aurleons are diurnal creatures; therefore they only appear in the wild during daytime. During any type of inclement weather, Aurleons will seek shelter in the trees until the weather clears up.
The Bulbori are one of the most intelligent species known to Sylestia. They thrive in locations with lush vegetation and where few predators roam. The Bulbori are diurnal creatures and hide in their large city-like burrows at night. They will also stay underground during inclement weather.
Draeyls are often considered to be the most intimidating species of Sylestia. Preferring harsher climates, they are rarely seen in temperate regions. Draeyls are nocturnal creatures, therefore they only appear in the wild during nighttime. In an attempt to stay out of sight, Draeyls typically only come out during inclement weather.
The Faelora are primarily found in and around Umbra Forest. They feed almost solely on the magical plants and fruits found by the Tree of Life and it is assumed that this has caused them to grow their plant-like features. Faelora typically stay hidden during inclement weather and are mainly diurnal creatures. They are often unnoticed by travelers since they almost perfectly blend into their surroundings.
Griffies are a mythical species thought to live deep inside of mountain ranges on the highest peaks. However, once every year when the weather first turns cold, they migrate to the snowy grasslands of Viridian Meadows to breed and to gather food for the long upcoming winter. Sylestians often celebrate their beloved Winter Festival to coincide with this time. Griffies are very large creatures with a mix of unique features that greatly improve their ability to survive in various, challenging environments. This makes them ideal pets for Sylesti Trainers.
Kelpari are a rare and powerful species of Sylesti that share a distant ancestor with the Qitari. Their name derives from their typical behavior of camouflaging themselves amongst kelp and seaweed. When compared to a Qitari, a Kelpari has very noticeable differences, such as the loss of their hind legs, multiple sets fins, and a pair of wings that they use to glide through the air. However, the most striking physical difference is that instead of a mane full of hair, the Kelpari has a flowing mane of pure water. While the physics behind its watery mane remain a mystery, it is certainly a sight that all Sylestians should see. Due to their unique anatomy, the Kelpari live almost exclusively in areas with shallow, fresh water, such as lakes, rivers, and ponds. However, they can rarely be found far inland or out on the open ocean.
The Lighira are a very rare species of Sylesti that are only ever found in the wild during a specific time of the summer. During this time period, they can be found all over the kingdom in warm climates. During the remainder of the year, it is not known where they go. Some believe that they hide in deep underground caves while others think they magically teleport to some alternate plane. What is known is that when they do disappear each year, they will not reappear for approximately 50 weeks.
Bizarrely, Lighiras that are tamed remain in Sylestia permanently. It is not known whether they are magically bound to Sylestia or if they simply are loyal to their owners. The Lighiras themselves are a Fabled species.
The Luffox is a very loving and caring creature who spends much of its time being cute and mischievous. They can be found throughout Sylestia, but usually avoid dangerous or frightening environments. With concerns to weather, the Luffox enjoys all varieties. While some may prefer a bright sunny day, others enjoy mucking around in the rain or frolicking through the snow.
Lunemaras are one of the hardest working species of Sylesties. They typically thrive in warm, humid climates with lots of tall trees. In these climates, Lunemaras construct massive colonies along the tree tops. These colonies have been known to be as large as a mile in diameter and contain thousands of Lunemaras all living in harmony. Each individual Lunemara works all day gathering food, gathering building materials, constructing the colony, protecting the colony, or breeding to increase the work force. When all is considered, Lunemaras are the ideal Sylesti for getting a job completed.
The Lupora are a powerful species found throughout the temperate climates of Sylestia. The Lupora is one of the most intimidating predators that hunts day or night, rain or shine. They are highly sought after by trainers due to their immense combination of strength, dexterity, and agility. However, one should not think of them as bloodthirsty Sylesties, as they are intelligent and only hunt out of necessity.
The Morkko is a very majestic creature that is native to Umbra Forest. It is said that many years ago they were blessed by Faerina and in return are sworn protectors of Umbra Forest. Morkkos are a relatively uncommon sight in the wild, but are seen during any type of weather. Although they typically only come out of their den during the night, it is not uncommon to see them during the day.
Nephinies, a very rare and mystical species of Sylesti, are only found in the forests of Astryl's Vale. It is not known how many Nephinies are in the wild or even where they make their nests. Because of this, those who find them in the wild are often considered to be very fortunate. Those who own a Nephini are considered to be a legend.
Nephinies are often called the guardians of the forest. They use their innate magical powers to aid the forest and to keep it healthy. To mess with the forest is to mess with the Nephini. Despite their duty to protect the forest, Nephinies still find plenty of time to play and have fun, especially at an adventurer's expense.
The Ny'vene, a powerful and rare species of Sylestia, are one of the few direct descendants of the ancient Sylestian Dragons. Because of their ancient lineage, Ny'venes have a very powerful bond with the elements. They are also very strong, intelligent, and have a lust for combat; making them ideal for Arena battles. Currently, the only known hatchery of Ny'venes is in Ethernia and they are often awarded to renown Challengers of the Ethernia Arena.
The Nytekrie are a fearsome species that are often seen lurking in the shadows. Prefering the cover of night to hunt, Nytekries are rarely seen during the day. As with most predators of Sylestia, they care little about the current weather. With their combination of strength, speed, intelligence, and flight, one should always be cautious of what's lurking in the shadows.
Puffadores, often associated with royalty, are considered one of the most pampered and prestigious species of all Sylesties. Due to their size, Puffadores are one of the few species capable of living inside the homes of their owners. This makes them ideal for owners who want a companion to follow them around all day and all night. While other species must fight for survival in the wild, most Puffadores, throughout their entire lives, never even step foot into the wild. Because of these tendencies, they are not usually found anywhere in the wild. The only known public breeder of Puffadores is in Ethernia, the capital of Sylestia. However, this does not mean that all Puffadores are incapable of battling. Those that do battle use their intelligence and dexterity to outwit their opponents.
Qitaries are the most common Sylesti found in the wild. They adapt well to all environments and can be found anywhere in Sylestia. Additionally, Qitaries are diurnal creatures; therefore they only appear in the wild during daytime. They also have no preference when it comes to the weather and will appear during any condition.
Ryories are mostly incorporeal creatures that only appear during a brief period of time in the fall season. Due to their ghostly manner, it is impossible to determine their actual weight. This feature also allows them to float through the air nearly effortlessly, which can be quite a sight when seen for the first time. It is assumed that the Ryori reside in the Plane of Shadows, but that is just a theory.
Sylvorpas, whose ancient ancestors hailed from the sea, have only been seen living on land for the past few centuries. Due to their aquatic nature, they are only seen in regions with plenty of water. Sylvorpas are nocturnal creatures, therefore they only appear in the wild during nighttime. Additionally, they only appear if it is raining, snowing, or storming.
Vulnyxes are the fiercest predators of Sylestia. They adapt well to all environments and are found anywhere in Sylestia. Vulnyxes are nocturnal creatures; therefore they only appear in the wild during nighttime. Due to their adaptive nature, they can easily hunt under any condition.
